Mom Award from Hijabi Couture

Thank you to Najea of Hijabi Couture who is one of the hardest working mamis I know!!
Here are the rules of this tag:
1. Admit one thing you feel awful about (involving being a mom). Once you have written it down, you are no longer allowed to feel bad. Remember you are a good mom!
2. Remind yourself that you ARE a good mom, list 7 things you love about your kids, you love doing with your kids, or that your kids love about you.
3. Send this to 5 other moms of the year that deserve a reminder that they too are the best moms that they can be. Remember to send them a note letting them know you have selected them, and also add a link to your post that directs people back to the person who nominated you!
* One thing I feel awful about is not being more educated prior to having my Zach. Educated in all areas like academically I want to have an MPH by now, deen-wise I wanted to know more surah and stuff, language-wise I wanted to have a better grasp on his dad's languages.
Seven things I love about my kid(s) I'll talk about Zach and my Bonus-Kiddos.
* Zach is such a smart boy! He figures things out very quickly (in my eyes) for a 5 month old!
* Zach is loving and does not share mommy's social anxieties lol. He enjoys being held a fawned over by my friends.
* Zach makes me live on purpose. Having my little Hybrid makes me take life, time and everything else more seriously.
* My stepdaughter Marie is the biggest helper ever. She is always taking the initiative to help me in the kitchen :).
* Marie, Amie and Pa (all 3 of the step-kiddlings) ask about me when I'm not feeling well and say they hope I feel better.
* All 4 of the kiddos are forgiving. I was kind of grouchy and I apologized to the kids and they sweetly said that's okay mama-Hijabi. Zach has forgiven me for dropping my phone on his head :(.
*I love that the kids love just hanging out with me! They are so happy when I drop them off at school or simply watch a movie with them.
Overall I feel like my children's love makes me a better person.
I will tag UmmAmirah and UmmAminaHonest and UmmSalihah and UmmHMC and Queeny and iMuslimah!

I am a Sunday school teacher again
Salaams! My husbandit asked me if I would join him teaching Sunday school. I have to be honest and say I have not been to our neighborhood masjid regularly since Ramadhaan. I don't really fancy it much. Well I sucked it up and went ahead and agreed. We had our first class yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I asked a sister friend of mine to help me and she did! We only had 4 girls but I liked the intimateness of such a small group!
Although I've taught before if anyone has any pointer, suggestions, lesson plan help you can give me I'd be ever so grateful!
Ma salaamah!

Soul Food: Relaxing with my Sisters Feeds My Soul

salaams! alhamdulillah i had the most wonderful day! I spent it in the company of dear dear friends. we laughed, talked, played with my baby and ate A LOT!!! i love this particular group of ladies. i've learned so much from them and they have opened my heart up so much. i wore the "traveling hijab" today and they all complimented it! i told them (all non-hijabis) the story behind creating a bond of sisterhood through the hijab and they all thought it was the most wonderful idea (thanks again hijabee in dc! may Allah reward you for this!). i just felt so much sisterhood wearing the hijab and being with my sisters in Islam. it was a wonderful feeling. now i'm going to need to go and work off the calories but it was well worth it. i also want to express appreciation and love for my Beautiful Ummah cohorts UmmAmirah, Purvis, and UmmAminahHonest! Thanks specifically to UmmAminahHonest for the e-life coaching today :). Facebook can be a beautiful thing right sis ;). Thank you to my supporters on Drop And Give Me 20 as well!!! I need all the support, prayers and good vibes that I can get so Jazak Allah kheir!

My son
Oh my goodness! My little guy is 5 months old!! He is sitting up by himself and experimenting with fruit! He still nurses OFTEN. He is really starting to exhibit a little cute personality. I feel honored that Allah blessed me with him.

The Prophet said, ‘Whoever recites surah al Waqiah at night would never encounter poverty’ [Ibn Sunni 620]
The Prophet said, ‘Surah al Waqiah is the Surah of Wealth, so recite it and teach it to your children’[Ibn Asakir]
